As I have gotten more and more involved in teaching social media and internet marketing I have begun to realize that no matter how many suggestions you give on how to do something right, there’s always going to be people out there doing it wrong.

A few weeks ago I started to post a few simple rules on Facebook as my status update. Very simple, basic, and what I felt were obvious rules of etiquette we should all follow as we market our business online. Facebook, as well as any social network can be used to promote your business. However, for the best results you’re going to want to do it right.

Click Here to Download the FREE ebook NOW!

Everybody has been flat out annoyed by the overwhelming amount of spam (or really just dumb people) on Facebook. I decided that I would create an Ebook listing some of these simple rules and put it out there for free. I wrote this to explain some very
simple rules we should all follow to make using Facebook a much more pleasant experience for all. Keep in mind, most people don’t actually know they are “spamming” others; you’re probably one of those people…

Enjoy and please comment with your thoughts or any other rules I may have left out!

One of the biggest questions I get when I teach is, “What is a Facebook Fan Page and how can I create one?”. To start, a Facebook Fan Page is a public profile that enables you to share your business and products with Facebook users. Facebook Fan Pages are unique in the fact that, when built correctly, they will appear high on search engines for the keywords you utilized. In a moment I’m going you’re going to watch a video that walks you step-by-step on how to create a Facebook Fan page, but first I want you to know a few key things to remember when building your Fan Page.

Name of your Page: The name you give your Page is permanent and can never be changed, no matter what. Make sure it’s what you want and it’s what your customers will recognize you by.

Profile Photo: On your Fan Page you will have the ability to upload an unlimited number of photos. The most important is your profile picture that Facebook users will see in their News Feed when their friends interact with your page. Some good examples could be your logo, storefront, or group photo.

“Make it useful and engaging”: After you begin adding friends, make your page useful! Make your fans want to keep coming back. Offer up discounts and giveaways. This is the ultimate way of turning your visitors in to customers!

Check out the video below to learn step-by-step instructions on how to set up your Facebook Fan Page:

P.s. I also have to say a big thank you to my big brother Jon for helping me out and supplying me with this running program. He set out on a similar goal 7 years ago and achieved tremendous results. He is now a New York City Firefighter and told me if I didn’t mention him in a post, then he would hate me forever.

Here’s his before and after pictures from a long time ago:

I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to speak and be taught by many different coaches and mentors. Some of them have very differing views on many topics, and I’m able to take those views and mold them in to my own. However, there is one specific lesson I’ve learned from almost all my mentors and coaches. This one lesson has truly transformed my life in more ways then one.

This lesson I learned is, “you become the average of the five people you associate with most”. What exactly does this mean? Well, in short it means that you are the people you hang out with. If you hang out with drug addicts, your chances of becoming a drug addict are greatly increased, and if you hang out with millionaires, your chances of becoming a millionaire are greatly increased.

To maximize your potential using this strategy, answer the following questions:

What kind of person do you want to be? (i.e. millionaire, healthy, happy)

Who are the 5 people you spend the most time with?

Do those 5 people posses the qualities of the person you want to become?

Now list 5 people who you feel posses the qualities of the type of person you want to be.

How can you get in contact with these people?

Following up with this lesson is the idea of getting rid of some of the negative people in your life. Lately, this idea has created quite a stir with some people I’ve spoken with. One big question I get from many people is “what if these negative people are my family whom I love?” This is a question that I can relate to on many levels.

Here’s my answer:

I’ve had many negative people in my life in the past; from good friends to crazy girlfriends to my family, I’ve seen it all. I’ve parted ways with some friends and some crazy girls, however family will always hold a place in my life. Although some people in my family may be negative, I still love them wholeheartedly and would never abandon them. What I’ve learned to do in this situation is to learn to not let these people get a hold of me. I’ve learned to run my own course. Family is an extremely important part of anybody’s life. The best advice I can give is to love them with everything you have and turn your back to the negativity.

Sincerely,

Twitter has been rolling out a ton of new features. The latest feature currently in beta is Twitter’s new ‘ReTweet’ feature!

Many people have been ‘retweeting’ manually by prefacing a tweet with ‘RT’. Twitter, learning from this, decided to add a simple, easy to use button that will automatically retweet any post that you want.

If you have been selected to be a part of this brand new BETA feature, you will see a box that looks like this at the top of your Twitter Homepage:

Twitters new BETA Retweet feature really simplifies the use of twitter and is the start of Twitter cleaning up there format. To retweet another users posts, instead of prefacing your texts with ‘RT Username’ you simply have to click the button shown below:

After clicking the ‘Reweet’ button, the post you are viewing will automatically be posted to your page! Your new post will appear on your page and your followers newsfeed like this:

If somebody you are following does a retweet of somebody you’re not following, it will still appear on your newsfeed like above. It will have the ‘Retweet’ icon and the username of the original post.

The Retweet feature is yet another great tool Twitter has introduced along with the lists tool! I’ll be posting some great videos explaining a bit more in depth on how to use both of these new features. Also, if you haven’t yet don’t forget to add me on Facebook and Twitter by clicking the icons at the top right of this page!

Comment and let me know you guys think!
To Your Success,

Microsoft’s Xbox is joining the social networking revolution this winter. Microsoft announced Monday that they will be joining forces with Twitter and Facebook bringing an interactive boost to the entertainment console. Microsoft’s Xbox has created platforms for both Facebook and Twitter that will allow users to log in and use each account from the comfort of there living room, lounging back on that nice comfy sofa!

Microsoft’s Facebook platform on Xbox 360 will offer many similar features as Facebook offers via a regular web browser. It is set up and used very similarly to your standard Xbox 360 platform. Here’s a few things you’ll be able to do with this new Xbox 360 Facebook Platform:

Status updates

Profiles

Friend Browsing

Friend Requests

Messaging

Photo Sharing

Video Sharing

Wall Posts and Comments

and much more…

Xbox 360’s version of Twitter looks very similar to the standard Twitter web browswer. Twitter on Xbox will allow Xbox 360 owners to update their personal status from the dashboard, communicate with friends, and favorite tweets. It is viewed and used just like the web browser and I’ve heard it’s very easy to navigate.

Check out the fun video I made explaining all this:

So how does this effect you? This is just the beginning what I refer to as The Social Media Revolution! It’s not a bad thing at all, in fact it’s going to be a huge shift in the way we interact and the way we communicate. There isn’t much of a business lesson here, however I want you to see how fast this is growing.

The world is changing and your personal life and business must be able to adapt quickly to keep up! So ask yourself. How will you make changes in your life to keep up with these dramatic changes we are already seeing?

To your success,

What would you do if you were given a challenge to raise $1,200 in toys and donate them to a childrens care center, and do it in just 7 hours? Today, I did exaclty that. In fact, my team and I raised over $1,500.00 in toys in under 7 hours.

I’ve been attending this seminar called The Next Level. It’s a personal development seminar that stretches your mind and pushes you to do things that you otherwise believed you weren’t capable of doing. Today at noon, all attendees were broken up into groups of about 12. After being split up, we were given all given a challenge. My teams challenge was to raise $1,200 in toys and donate them to a childrens care center and be back at the seminar at 7:30 PM.

Immediately, I could tell that my team was going to work well together. We had a chemistry that made everything much easier. We all shared ideas and eventually settled on a few different ideas of raising toys. Initially we thought of standing in front of stores and asking for donations and calling different businesses asking for cash donations. Being a Saturday, nobody was available. The stores wouldn’t donate and wouldn’t let us ask for donations outside the store. We ran into many challenges so we met back up to re-evaluate our plan and see what we can change.

We came to the agreement that going to these businesses just wasn’t working. One of my team members did have some success though. She used craigslist to find some people who were looking to get rid of some old toys they had. Through doing this, we were able to raise about $700 worth of toys!

With only 5 hours left, we realized we still needed more, and asking for donations just wasn’t getting us very far. As a group we decided that we would call everybody we knew and work on getting money donations that we could then use to buy the toys.

We all spent the next 3 hours calling everybody we knew asking for donations for our cause. To make a long story short, we were able to raise over $850 in those short three hours.

Then, the fun started. We went to Toys R’ Us and left with a $850 worth of toys, plus the $700 worth of donated toys!

We then got the awesome opportunity of driving out to St. Judes Childrens Ranch, just outside of Las Vegas, NV and dropping the toys off. What is better than that? We got the satisfaction of completing a goal, and might I add, a rather large goal, plus we were able to bring joy and happiness to over 70 children! It was by far one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.

I felt the need to share this with you in hopes that you will take something from it, anything really. We’re all capable of great things, and when you’re doing what you love, those great things will just come natural.

Facebook is swarming with tools that can be used by pretty much any business very easily!

Facebook is swarming with tools that can be used by pretty much any business very easily! Today, I want to introduce you to one of the very powerful forms of Facebook advertising. If you’re not dumb and you read the headline, then you of course know I’m talking about Facebook Group Pages!

Facebook group pages can be created by anyone, very easily. It only takes about 2 minutes of your time and it’s very easy to maintain. Facebook groups allow interaction between you, the moderator, and your group members. Members of the group can be allowed to actively contribute content, participate in discussions, add photo’s, videos, etc. The ability for your members to have this level of participation means they’re more likely to come back and see what’s going on.

I find Facebook groups to be most beneficial for quick promotions. There are other tools like Facebook Fan Pages which can be used to promote your business (I’ll touch on these in future article very soon). Facebook groups are better used to promote a specific product, sale, or promotion you have going on with your business that you want to draw quick attention to.

Another great thing about Facebook Groups is that they are public! Most of Facebook is hidden behind a login, but Facebook groups can be seen on search engines and you don’t need a Facebook account to view the groups.

Here’s an example of one of my Facebook Groups, Click Here To Check it Out!

Here’s a great video I made walking you through how to make a Facebook Group:

Here are some other tips for using Facebook Groups:

The group name is what is going to make people join. Make it interesting and intriguing!

Invite your members to start discussions, or start one for them and invoke responses.

As soon as you start your group, USE IT! Upload photos and videos. You want to stay active in your own group!

Offer value to your visitors. Give them something they can truly use or find beneficial in some way.
